(Press release / 29-10-09) During November 6th, 7th and 8th, the Councilor Delegate for Beaches of the City Council in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has presented the “Second Open Fotosub Playa Viva-Playa de Las Canteras.”

The city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has one of the best urban beaches in the world: Las Canteras, which holds the blue flag, the European guarantee certificate that certifies that all works, activities and events taking place there respect the environment completely.

All this, along with the special sensitivity of people from the Canary Islands towards landscape, sea and coastline, means an improvement in quality of life for all. The city located towards the sea and there is an indisputable connection between citizens and the coast.

To make show the richness of seabed, ecosystem and natural environment of Las Canteras beach, it is organized the II OPEN FOTOSUB PLAYA VIVA “PLAYA DE LAS CANTERAS”.

They are intended to reach all social sectors with an innovative competition format, giving them the possibility to enjoy the event in attractive conditions. Thus, the following modalities will be held:

Open: professional category with substantial cash prizes.
Photosub hunt: professional category in apnoea.
Snorkel: category for amateurs and all those that want to know photosub practice. It is divided into two categories: open (for general public) and university (for students of University Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
Child snorkel: for children between 10 and 14, who will enjoy underwater treasure hunt and many other surprises…
