Dive offer takes off in India
(MWN / 07-10-09) The most exotic aquatic sports, scuba diving, has all the possibilities to make big splash in Indian waters, as the country has the potential to turn it into a booming industry in the next five years.
“We believe that is about time for India to become a strong country in diving world. It has the potential to become an industry of billions dollars in the next five years,” said Rohaan Sulaiman, president of Bangalore Dive Club, open this summer.

Worldwide, the dive business, including catering, is estimated at USD 47 trillion, according to Madhava Reddy, Founder Director of Planet Scuba India, one of the main Indian five-star dive center, member of PADI. “Today, dive contribution can be tiny, but in five years, with implementation of plans, this adventure will be an important contribution to tourism with base on the sea.”
The lack of resources and infrastructure are the reason why this sport has not taken off earlier in India, despite the fact that is has a vast coastline, many inhabitants and a growing economy.
India, that had less than five dive centers five years ago, boasts about having 22 now, a number that will reach 50 in five years. |
