Award for Air Mauritius
(Press release / 13-11-09) The airline Air Mauritius has
been awarded for the third consecutive year in the category
“Best Airline of the Indian Ocean” by the prestigious World
Travel Awards Association.
The award was given to the President of Air Mauritius, Kamal
Toposeea, by the Founder and President of the World Travel
Awards Association, Graham Cooke, at the gala ceremony that
took place last Saturday November 7th, in the incomparable
setting of Grosvenor House in London.
The awards, according to the Wall Street Journal, are the
Oscars of travel industry and tourism sector. More than 1,600
executives and personalities from tourism industry attended
the event, as well as the participants of Miss World contest,
who supported the delegates of their countries.
“Air Mauritius, winner of the award for best airline
in the Indian Ocean, chosen by more than 10,000 professionals
of tourism worldwide, is an example of the tireless efforts
of Air Mauritius team to demonstrate its excellence in
service and satisfy their customers, despite the difficult
situation that the tourism sector is living,” said
Manon Han, Executive Vice President of World Travel Awards.
“They have passed twelve months since Air Mauritius
opened its new corporate identity, the efforts and improvements
in their aircraft have demonstrated the success of the
National Company and for this reason we congratulate Air
Mauritius for having achieved the award for Best Airline
in the Indian Ocean,” Han added.
Manoj R.K. Ujoodha, CEO of Air Mauritius, said: “We
are very proud of this recognition given by important experts
in tourism sector and of being in the exclusive group of
the best airlines in the world. I dedicate this award to
our shareholders, particularly to the Government of Mauritius

role that Air Mauritius has as National Company.”
Less that a month ago the company added to its fleet a new
Airbus A330-200 called Nénuphar, the name of the
legendary aquatic plant that grows abundantly in the Pamplemousses
Botanical Garden, one of the many surprises to discover in
the paradisiacal destination of Mauritius Island.
This aircraft together with the first A330-200, Trochetia,
delivered in 2007, aims to improve the regional offer of the
Company, and will fly in the medium distance on routes from
India, Asia and Australia. The plane is equipped with GE CF6
engines and will operate with a double configuration: 24 seats
in business class fully tilt and 251 in economy class.
