Initiative "S.O.S. Paisajes de Mar"
(MWN / 31-10-09) “S.O.S. PAISAJES DE MAR” is an initiative that aims to analyze the current state of the Spanish coast, identify the conservation status of the different areas and to value the urgent need to protect places of greater ecological and landscape value.
It is a project in which many people participate voluntarily: scientists, bloggers, designers, photographers, lawyers, ecologists, biologists, archaeologists, journalist, etc. The analysis and taking of images is done separately in provinces. They begin from a prior knowledge of each area, lots of documentation and a visit from seven to ten days to cover the cost carefully.
They also have social support from over 50 organizations, associations, foundations and companies, even some international ones. Thousands of people visit the blog daily from 35 countries. And the project has only just begun.
The project is based on:
- A detailed analysis of the Spanish coast, carried out exhaustively.
- Documentation of current conservation status and main threats.
- Location of sites of higher landscape value.
-
Location of the most degraded areas.
- Assessments of the need to protect unprotected areas.
- A tool for conservation and future comparison of changes in the coastal state.
His organizer is José B. Ruiz, one of the Spanish photographers internationally known. He has won prizes such as Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the most prestigious in its category; his images have been published in magazines National Geographic or Geo International, and he has worked in several photograph libraries worldwide, such as in the BBC one in London.
This photographer from Alicante wants to be recognized not only for the beauty of his photographs, but also for his commitment to preserve nature. He is member of the International League of Conservationists Photographers and carries out the project “S.O.S. Paisajes del Mar”. |
