Marine species identification guide

Marine PictoLife(BV / 12-05-10)  New collection Marine PictoLife is being launched. It is a referent work to define and get informed about marine species during the dive. With its completely waterproof, plasticized pages, it easily fits into a jacket pocket or a beach bag.

The originality of these guides is that they provide information about species through original and simple pictograms. It is a system that combines predefined symbols, which represent the mail characteristics of every species. They are based on figurative models and are intuitively understood and easy to memorize.

This condensed language favours the direct access to much information just at first sight. With the image of the specimen, you can read precise information about its habitat, biology, food, ecology, behaviour and relation to men.

Within the two guides published so far (€24 each), Caribbean and Mediterranean, besides the scientific name you can read the regional names, in five languages. The first pages are to explain the pictograms and then you can see 280 species divided into two indexes of six phyla.

The first one describes mobile species: marine mammals, fishes, marine reptiles, crustaceans, molluscs and echinoderms. The second one describes stationary species such as marine worms, cnidarians, sea squirts, sponges, bryozoans and algae.

Marine PictoLife collection is planning to cover all the marine regions in the World. To the published they will add the one about the Atlantic Ocean in June and the one about the Red Sea in autumn, and then the one about the Tropical Pacific and the warm Pacific.
